Dr Filia Papadimitriou is an AHPRA Registered Counselling and Clinical Psychologist and Supervisor. She has completed the following:

  • Masters of Child and Family Psychology
  • Doctorate in Counselling Psychology
  • Masters of Clinical Psychology

With over 15 years of experience in helping children/ adolescents, adults, and couples Filia has worked in schools, universities, and hospitals. Also, since 1999 she has worked in private practice and in recent times she has developed a particular interest in helping couples. She is very passionate about using Gottman’s couples therapy approach and has completed Gottman Couples therapy training : Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and is undergoing certification. Filia has worked in both Melbourne and Brisbane. Filia’s clinical approach is based on the principles of client-centred therapy (integrity, respect, authenticity, congruence, and genuineness), and uses a number of evidence based interventions such as: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness, Schema Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused, EMDR, Emotional Focused Therapy, and Gottman’s Couples Therapy. Filia also believes it is important to explore how clients’ developmental history and family-of-origin issues might be impacting their life, and thus utilises psychodynamic strategies.
